Santos, John´s father, is a fisherman who is still doing his Caballito boats and Rosa, John´s mother, sells her artesania at the beach. If you are interested in Huanchaco´s traditions, you should have a chat with or accompany John´s parents who live below the hostal you will stay at. John´s knowledge about surfing is huge from beginners to professionals! For sure you will learn a lot about surfing!!! John is still holding most of the beginner classes, besides he started to organise competitions since 2 years. Juninho was already 3 times surf champion of Peru, but also Junior World Champion, Junior Latinamerican Champion and Junior Panamerican champion.

If there is anything about surfing you want to know, you are in good hands! While John, who started his first surf school 17 years ago, was competing in his early years, since 15 years he is coaching and managing his brother Juninho who is a professional surfer competing in the World Qualification Series and also forms part of the surf school. For sure you will get to know people from all over the world, hear all different kind of stories and can exchange your travel experiences. In your time here you will improve your Spanish as this is the first language here and we are pleased to help you with that! But if you need a break or don´t understand we can also help you with English or German.Īt the hostal and in Huanchaco there are a lot of tourists and other volunteers.

You will learn how to work independently and get close to people. In the time you stay with us, you will for sure learn a lot!įirst of all you will learn how to work at a surf school or at a surf hostal, you will learn about the processes and the system of those businesses and besides how work specially in South America works. You can have a really relaxed time here and chill out but you can also have a lot of fun going out at night and dancing Salsa. The village offers all different kinds of lifestyles. Huanchaco is visited by a lot of tourists from all over the world. Nowadays they still go fishing with the famous, special reedboat, which is supposed to be the beginning of surfing here. Huanchaco is a really nice village to stay. Besides we count on a lady that comes for deep cleanings. They help out attending clients and are in charge of the tours we offer. Downstairs of the hostel live John´s parents. Guests and volunteers quickly feel at home in our hostal. There is a well equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a terrace, that are shared in between all guests, and of course there is Wifi. The Surf Hostal is a small family-run hostal, run by Miriam & John. There is a good surfing for everyone- from beginner to professional. Since 2012 Hunachaco is declared as World Surfing Reserve. Huanchaco´s beach is famous for it´s waves and surfing. The school is located in front of the sea. All our surf teachers are locals! Besides Sergio, who is an amazing young surfer from Huanchaco works at the shop as well. Our surf school is a family-run business, run by John & Miriam. Having a professonal rider in the family, this is our strength. We also offer training and coaching for advanced and professional riders.
